Happy 3rd birthday little man!

Camera strap covers

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

I've been asked by a number of people around here if I could make camera strap covers for them. A new challenge involving sewing? Hell ya!, and I also wanted one too. So here it is.

Rice cake plastic pouch

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Thought a rice cake plastic bag would make a cute, little, snap button plastic pouch.

The Plastic Project's tag are printed on the back of cereal boxes to continue with the recycling and reusing theme.

The back of the plastic pouch. Mmmm, caramel rice cakes.

Look how happy the Quaker guy is to be recycled into a plastic pouch.

Puzzle time

Monday, March 23, 2009

Lucius is at a puzzle phase right now. He absolutely loves them. This Barnyard floor puzzle I got him last summer is the best ever. Big colorful pieces and it all comes in a handy, cute storage case. His record is putting it together and apart five time in a row. That crazy kid. I'm definitely looking into getting him the Vehicle or the Dinosaur one too.

Tomorrow will be a warm -3c. Time to take the boys to play in all that white stuff and build a snowman or two.

Spring = Snow...

Sunday, March 22, 2009

In Alberta, Canada anyways. We had such gorgeous, sunny weather the past couple of days and then today it decided to give us a blizzard. I guess those scarves and gloves have to stay in my closet just a bit longer.

Because we didn't have to go anywhere today in this snow, it was actually nice to watch the snowfall through our windows. We got to play, create, watch DVDs, and drink hot chocolate. Good snowday fun!

It's spring break, meaning Darcy is off for this entire week!! More family time, more time for my projects, going up to Edmonton on Thursday, and can you believe Lucius is turning 3 this Friday! My little man is growing up.

Happy Spring!

Friday, March 20, 2009

To celebrate the first day of spring I've been spring cleaning. Sweeping and washing the floors, organizing, and cleaning out cupboards. Feels so good and much needed.

I am so looking forward to be able to put away all the winter gloves, scarves, toques, and to bring out the sandals.

Happy Spring and have a fantastic weekend!

Candy plastic pouch

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

My brother is quiting smoking and to help with his cravings he eats candy. I told him to keep all the wrappers so I can use them for my plastic projects. He thought I was crazy. Hahaha! But look how it turned out. Pretty funky and "sweet"!! Sorry, I know, bad pun.

Knitters, crocheters, go here...

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

This has to be the best website for knitters and crocheters.

I recently just signed up and I'm looking at all the amazing patterns there is. Go check out Ravelry!

Crochet baby bear hat

Monday, March 16, 2009

Isn't this the cutest baby hat you've ever seen? A talented local photographer here, personally asked me if I could crochet cute baby hats for her to use in her newborn photography sessions. I only started crocheting last summer, but I was up for the challenge. This is only a demo to see if I could actually do it with whatever yarn I had around the house. I need to go get some soft, baby yarn the next time I'm up in Edmonton.

I wish I can take credit for this cute little pattern, but I found it here on Naida's Crochet. I can't wait to see this used and if it actually fits on a cute newborn baby.

Diaper bag

Sunday, March 15, 2009

I was in dire need of a new diaper bag. The one I bought when Lucius was born was ripping apart and the strap finally let go. I thought why not make myself one instead of buying one. I found this easy diaper bag tutorial from Sew Christine. Made a few changes, like adding a zipper compartment and a snap button, and now I have bag that I'm extremely happy with.

Thursday's Tots

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Thank goodness for Mom & Tots every Thursday! The boys get to run off their energy from being housebound from the cold winter weather.

Does anyone else remember growing up and reading these Little Golden Books? I never knew they still made them until my brother bought some for Lucius for Christmas. I think I enjoy looking through them more then Lucius does.

I've been playing around with this awesome program called Poladroid. (Download it free on their site.) You can turn any digital photo into a polaroid. It's so much fun! I added the text using Picnik.

Tomorrow I have a sewing meet during the day and a scrapbooking meet during the night. Lucky me and Hurray for crafts!

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

It's -41c today! CCCOLD! No school buses running for the students, but Darcy still had to go to school. At least he doesn't have to teach.

Taking some pictures of my boys and I just had to take one of Aymeric's shirt. It makes me laugh everytime I see it. My mom bought it when she went to visit Hong Kong a couple years ago. I think it got lost in translation.

In case you can't read it, it says,
"Let's take it easy. Enoy a harmless high. Yelp with delight."

Plastic chick-a-dee flap pouch

Monday, March 9, 2009

I couldn't sleep lastnight. This was in my head and I just had to make it. A plastic flap pouch with a little, cute plastic chick on the front.

Chirp chirp!!

Gone with the wind

Sunday, March 8, 2009

It's windy, it's snowing. Feel's like -31c. So cold.
We lose an hour today. It's daylight savings time.
Stay inside with a warm cup of coffee. Grab a book and a blanket.
Snuggle up with my boys, look out the window, watch the snow dance about.

What was your's lastnight?

("Dreams" - color pencils)

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Finally got a chance to try out my new Faber-Castell pencil crayons with this mushroom drawing. The quality of the pencil crayons are fantastic! Off to doodle some more.

Printable Cookie Bags

Sunday, March 1, 2009

I was baking cookies the other day and thought wouldn't it be cute to have little bags to put the cookies in like you would from a cookie store or a cafe? Then my little head of mine started churning it's wheels and I came up with these printable cookie bags.

Download them here. There are two designs printable on 8.5 x 11 paper. Here I printed it on brown packaging paper, but any kind of paper would work too.

Cut the paper along the line into two.

Fold each sheet in half.

I machine sewed the two edges, but you can either handstitch, simply glue, or staple the edge too.

Fill the bag with your favorite cookies and close the top with a staple.
