Printable Christmas Gift Tags

For the month of December, I thought it would be appropriate to create printable gift tags since there will be a lot of gift giving going on. Available in color or black & white
(pdf file)
. One sheet will print 12 tags with 4 different designs. Best printed on a 8.5 x 11 cardstock or matte photo paper.

Handmade is good

On Friday I went to the Lac La Biche Christmas craft sale that was held at the McArthur Place. I am so happy for the handmade things I found.

I bought pantoufles (French for slippers) to send them to some of my Japanese friends in Japan. Can you believe each pair was only $4!

I bought a lovely pair of 100% wool mittens for Lucius.

And I bought some beautiful crocheted snowflakes ornaments from this nice elderly lady. I had no idea you can crochet such things. I googled and found some patterns. I asked the lady how she gets them stiff. She told me all you have to do is boil some sugar and water. Dip the crochet snowflakes in the sugarwater and place them on a flat surface to dry. That sounds easy enough doesn't it? Another thing to add on my long list of crafts to try.

The mystery of time.

It seems like there isn't enough time during the day to do all that I would like to do. Now that Christmas is around the corner, time is ever so precious. I have so many things on my to do list that I actually wrote a to do list, which is so unlike me. My plans to open up an Etsy shop will have to wait till the new year. I won't be able to blog as frequent as I do, but be sure there still will be a printable for the month of December. Off to crochet that Christmas gift for my mom.

Biscuits

Funny how I have never shared this recipe on my blog because I make these biscuits at least once every week. These are so very yummy and they turn out everytime. So here's the link to J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits from, of course, the all faithful allrecipes site.
I substitute butter for the shortening and Instead of rolling the dough out and using a cutter, I just divide the dough evenly into 16 pieces and simply put them on a baking sheet. Much faster and easier!


Biscuits served with assortment of cheeses, red wine olives, and a bowl of warm soup. My dinner was, as you can see, scrumptious. I think it's time for a leftovers, night time snack!

Wii-kends

We went to Edmonton again this weekend. It was our good friend Nash's birthday.
The highlights of our weekend:

• Taking PH TOS. Photos at a photo booth. It's a long story why we call them that, but it's a family thing we do about every 6 months.
• Catching up with friends at Nash's birthday party. Watching hockey game, pizza, Wii bowling competition between the guys and gals, putting together a gingerbread house. Oh yeah, Rip(Jeanie) gave Lucius a Spock haircut. Haha! Thanks Rip!!
• Lindt Excellence Chili. Chocolate with a hint of Chili. Suprisingly, it's really really good. But then again I'll eat anything chocolate.
• Coming home with snow on the ground. I do, I do like that white, fluffy stuff.
  

I better get started on those Christmas cards and send them out before it's too late!!

Lucius wasn't feeling all that well today with his tummy. So, little creative time for me. So instead I looked through our travel photos for ideas and inspirations. I came upon this picture of a beautiful window grill I took of The Citadel in Cairo, Egypt.
If only I could decorate all my windows with this.

Let's get nuts

I love this time of the year where you can buy big bags of nuts at the grocery stores. Just so much fun sitting at the table, with a cup of something, cracking those nuts open, having good conversations.

Is it just me, or does anyone else out there look at the details of the shells and marvel how wonderful mother nature is?!

Hello Abaddon

I bought a small set of acrylic paints last week when I was in Edmonton. I'm all for trying different mediums. Thought I would give it a go tonight. Is it ever difficult when you are use to watercolors, but I can't wait to practice some more.

Fabric-lous!

I'm in Edmonton this weekend. Darcy has Monday off and Tuesday is Remembrance Day holiday. So super four day long weekend for us! Yay!
I stopped by the fabric store (also known as the sewer's Bermuda Triangle!) and of course had to come out with something. I bought some more fabric, spool of thread and some snap buttons. The lady working at the cutting table asked me what I was going to make. I told her as of right now I collect fabric. That ain't far from the truth. I better start sewing some stuff before I become a fabric hoarder.

It's snowing today!

Haven't done much creatively these past couple of days. Just relaxing, spending time with my boys, and taking lots of pictures of them. My baby Aymeric has started walking and it makes me realize they are growing up just a tad too fast. Have to capture all these precious moments.

Drip drip drop

It's been pretty gloomy and rainy so far this week. No freezing temperatures and snow yet. So I'm not complaining. Strange as it might sound, I am looking forward to those days where we come in the house from the frigid snow and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with those tiny marshmallows. Until then, I will enjoy this rain.

Printable Mini Phone/Address/Memo Book

I made this mainly for myself because I'm always in that situation where you need a pen and paper and you search through your entire bag and wallet to find any possible scrap of paper you can salvage. It's perfect because on one side you can use it to jot down someone's phone number and address, and on the other side for jotting down anything else you need to remember.

The address cards are available to download (pdf files) in both color and black & white. Printed on 8-1/2x11 paper. Make sure you set your printer setting to "Fit to Printable Area" to fit it all on one page.

Cut the phone/address cards and punch out the holes.

Using scrapbook paper or cardstock (This is where those scrapbook pieces you save but never end up doing anything with them comes in handy!), cut out and punch holes into two pieces that are the same size as the phone/address cards. These will be your covers of your booklet.

String the cards through a ribbon. Make sure you string a cover card first.

String the other cover card and tie the ribbon to close.

Voila!
Now to do something to try to remember that darn pen!!

You say what?!

I'm so excited! Yes, it's daylight savings time here. Extra hour of anything!!

I'm excited also because I decided I will (at least try anyways) to have a free printable once a month. I had so much fun creating that Halloween card. I'm pretty sure you might be thinking "why in the world would she want to spend all that time to create something and give it out for free." Well, I love free things and I love to share. So sharing free things is the ultimate. Also, it allows me to practice using programs and to challenge my creativeness.

This month's free printable is almost done. There's still a few kinks I need to work out. Hopefully it will be up by tonight or tomorrow morning. So stay tune!!
